Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 8, 2026
Walk When is built to respect your privacy. The short version: the app does not collect, store, or share your personal data. There are no accounts, no ads, no third-party analytics, and no tracking.
What the app accesses
- Location. If you choose "Use my location," the app asks for your location once to find weather near you. Your approximate coordinates, rounded to about one kilometer, are sent to the weather provider to fetch a forecast. They are stored only on your device, so the app, widgets, and Apple Watch app can show your local walk windows. You can also search for a city by name instead of sharing your location.
- Weather and air quality data. Forecasts come from Open-Meteo, a free weather API. Your coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo only to retrieve the forecast for that area, with no account or identifier attached.
- Reverse geocoding. To turn coordinates into a city name, the app uses Apple's geocoding service, which is handled by the operating system.
What the app does not do
- No accounts and no sign-in.
- No advertising and no advertising identifier (IDFA).
- No third-party analytics, crash reporting, or tracking.
- No selling or sharing of personal data.
- No data stored on our servers. We do not run any.
Where your data lives
All of your settings, saved cities, and your last location are stored locally on your device, in a shared app group so the widgets and Apple Watch app can read them. Deleting the app removes this data from your device.
Children
Walk When does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Third-party services
- Open-Meteo provides weather and air quality data. See open-meteo.com for their terms.
- Apple provides reverse geocoding and standard App Store services.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
